Rimstar Systems
A number of custom CCD electronic camera systems were engineered for medical imaging, defense and fusion research applications. These included very high-resolution CCD camera systems, used by the University of Rochester High Energy Lab to monitor the optical portion of high energy laser systems used for fusion energy research. AIC also engineered high speed/high resolution cameras, used by DBA Systems for digitizing film imagery from underwater tests of missile launch systems.
Digital Video Fiberglass
Inspection System

This microprocessor image processing system was developed for Owens Corning Fiberglass for online automatic inspection of fiberglass roofing material. The system uses a Vidicon camera, video processor interface and Applied Integration's Industrial-286 computer system to inspect the continuous production of fiberglass mat for flaws in the manufacturing process.
Microfringe Video Interferogram Analysis System

The Microfringe Video Interferogram System is a computer imaging system designed to measure and display small surface variations as indicated by the interference of light reflected from the surface that is being measured.
Optically Multiplexed 3 by 3 CCD Array Applied Integration developed and patented designs and techniques for optically multiplexing arrays of CCD imaging devices. Fabricated and operated a 3 by 3 device array demonstrating 3000 by 3000 pixel resolution.
Stereoscopic Imaging Used to produce topographical mapping of the human eye's retina. Developed designs and technique for producing stereo optical digital images of the human retia. Applied data processing techniques developed by NASA for multiple path images to produce 3 dimensional data from two images separated in space.
CCD Camera
University of Rochester
High Energy Lab
Applied Integration developed a 1024 by 1024 pixel CCD camera for use in alignment of laser systems used for fusion energy research.
Engineering Document Data Capture System

Optigraphic Corporation

This is an imaging system using a high-resolution linear CCD array, translated in the perpendicular axis, in the focal plane, to produce high resolution images. These images were evaluated with a computer system and used to produce a Computer Aided Design data base of the document.
Motion Systems Mount Computer for Multi-mirror Telescope

Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory

Installed the mount computer for the multi-mirror telescope on Mount Hopkins. This instrument operates on an Altitude / Azimuth mount and maintains 0.25 arc second accuracy over its operating range. The mount computer is responsible for pointing the instrument as well as the 1-million-pound steel building.

Wireless Hand Held Communications Terminal (HHCT)

McDonnel Douglas Training Systems (MDTS)

Applied Integration designed and developed for MDTS a wireless, portable control system and Computer Interface Module (CIM), capable of providing a means for remote operator control of the AET-A7 Apache Helicopter Training System.

The HHCT system consists of the hand-held terminal, antennas, and interfaces required for data interface. The HHCT also allows remote control using wireless frequency modulation transmission. The CIM provided interface between the HHCT and the computer, communicating with the computer through a low-power radio frequency digital data link.

External Hydraulic System and Ballast Control Panel Simulator

Sargent Control

Sargent Control came to Applied Integration for the design and manufacture of their External Hydraulic System and Ballast Control Panel Simulator. This computer system simulated the function of the external hydraulic control system (EHS), which is a hydraulic fluid pumping system for the Sea Wolf submarine. The EHS-simulator allowed Sargent Control to continue development of the control electronics for the external hydraulic system and ballast control panel while the actual pump was still under development. The simulator developed by Applied Integration received stimulus from the electronic pump controller and produced electrical responses that simulated the full range of functions of the actual hydraulic pump.
AI-VSW-SS12 Video Cross Point Switch

Naval Air Warfare

Applied Integration designed and developed the AI-VSW-SS12 VME Video Cross Point Switch for use on a project for Naval Air Warfare. The Video Switch was developed to receive twelve separate channels of RS-170 or NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) video and output any input channel on one, all, or none of twelve output channels.

The state of this cross-point video switch was to be controlled either by the VME-Bus or a dedicated hardwire port. All video connections to the switch are via the P2 connector. The state of the cross-point switch is controlled primarily through the VME-Bus under CPU control.

AN/SQS-38 PPI Display System

This is a VMEbus-based Video Display System used as an upgrade to the PPI Display of the AN/SQS-38 Sonar System. Applied Integration developed the AI-C30-DSP Digital Signal Processor for use on this project. The system utilizes the AI-386 Processor and AI-DDC Display/Disk Controller, a VMEbus-compatible board set which functions as a 100% software-compatible IBM AT Computer System with disk and Super VGA display capabilities. Software for this project was developed by Applied Integration.
AN/SQS-38 Doppler Display System

This complete VMEbus system is used as an upgrade to the AN/SQS-38 Sonar System. Applied Integration provided complete manufacturing, system integration and testing services on this project. The system consists of our AI-286 Processor, AI-DDC Display Controller, AI-ROM Memory Board, ZPB3201 DSP Processor and a Planar 1024 X 864 Electroluminescent Display. The Processor and DDC boards use ceramic components and are conformal coated to meet the required duty specifications.
Planar 1024 X 864 Electroluminescent Display Controller
A high performance 16-bit IBM VGA compatible display controller was designed for this Planar flat panel display. VGA BIOS software, video drivers for 1024 X 768 pixel operation of most popular IBM/AT applications and display utility programs were supplied to Planar Corporation. This display controller was manufactured to Planar's specifications by Applied Integration.
MD-11 Automatic Test System

AiResearch, Tucson Division

AiResearch, Tucson Division contracted with Applied Integration for the design and construction of their MD-11 Automatic Test Panel as well as the design, prototype, printed circuit board design and construction of IBM AT-compatible Cabin Air Pressure System Valve Simulators for their production test facility.
IoCAD Computer-Aided Design System
The development of a unique architecture for bit-slice graphic engines that feature the highest performance graphics available on the VMEBus was the foundation for the company's first product. The IoCAD system is a complete CAD system for printed circuit board design.
Uranium Ore Sorting System

This system, consists of a STD bus computer system interfaced to the ore-handling conveyor through a rolling belt scale, a scintillation counter and hydraulic ore diverters. This system was programmed in BASIC to sort uranium ore from waste automatically.
